Principal's Message
Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members,
Welcome to the Westhampton Beach Elementary School’s website. Our school serves students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. We offer a supportive and nurturing environment with wonderful opportunities for all students to meet their full potential as learners.
2008-09 brings many exciting changes to our school and we are eager to begin the new school year. We are proud to be at the forefront of technology with all of our K-5 classrooms being “technology smart”. In addition our 1:1 laptop initiative includes all students in 4th and 5th grade in a wireless learning environment. This not only enhances the daily classroom instruction, but also better prepares our students for the 21st century world we live in.
Along with our dedicated classroom teachers, the curriculum at Westhampton Beach Elementary is enriched by many other wonderful programs. Our art, music, health and physical education programs are thriving as students begin to explore and develop their talents in these areas. Our K-4 Spanish program and our 5th grade exploratory language program offer a wonderful foundation and have our students poised to advance in foreign language when they reach the Middle School. Our student’s have the advantage of being exposed to the latest technology and all of our teachers embrace these teaching tools as we prepare our students for an increasingly technology driven society. Students and teachers alike are also supported by highly qualified teachers in our science and enrichment/gifted and talented programs.
In addition, our students are fortunate to be supported by an active PTA. This dedicated group believes in working together to develop strong partnerships with teachers and administrators so that we all may serve in the best interests of the children. I encourage every parent to join the PTA and become a more active participant in your child’s education. Research supports that the number one factor influencing academic success is the level of involvement and support children receive from their parents. Our teachers are all interested in establishing open lines of communication, so please make it a point to ask questions and maintain consistent communication with your child’s teacher throughout the year.
As we look forward to an exciting school year, we hope that you all make an effort to attend many of our wonderful events. Please also be assured that our Assistant Principal, Ms. Lisa Ihne, and I are always available to answer any question you may have. Feel free to call the office at 288-3800 x252 at any time.
Sincerely,
Ron Masera
