Westhampton Beach valedictorian and salutatorian named

Westhampton Beach High School has announced Megan Sitzmann and Daniel Gosnell as its Class of 2023 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. The two seniors earned the top spots in their class through their outstanding commitment to academics.

Sitzmann and Gosnell have achieved a number of academic accomplishments during their tenure at Westhampton Beach High School. Both were named AP Scholars with Distinction by the College Board for their outstanding Advanced Placement exam scores, and both are members of the school’s National, Math, Science and World Language honor societies.

Additionally, Sitzmann is a member of her school’s Tri-M Music Honor Society, plays the trumpet in her school’s band and sings in the chorus. She also participates in her school’s science research program and earned a Long Island Science Congress achievement award. Outside of school, she serves as captain of the Westhampton Beach Junior Ambulance.

In the fall, Sitzmann plans to attend Northeastern University, where she will study science and biology.

Gosnell serves as co-vice president the Interact Club and is a member of the Youth-to-Youth Board. He is also an athlete and has played on his school’s varsity volleyball team for the past two years. Outside of school, he is a member of the Westhampton Beach Junior Ambulance and Westhampton Beach Junior Fire Department.

Gosnell plans to study pre-med in college with a focus on chemistry.
