A perfect score

Westhampton Beach High School junior Megan Pomroy has become one of only a handful of students from across the country to earn a perfect score on the 2023 PSAT.

Pomroy said she was in disbelief when she saw that she received the top score of 1520.

“I had to ask one of my friends to double-check for me,” she said. “At first, I thought it was a glitch in the app.”

Pomroy said she didn’t go in expecting to get a perfect score. “I just wanted to do well,” she said, noting that she had been studying since July.

“We are very proud of Megan,” said Principal Christopher Herr. “She continues to impress us academically and within the school community.”

Pomroy is a member of many of her school’s academic programs, including the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, Mathletes and French Club. She is also active in community service as a member of her school’s Key Club. Additionally, she belongs to the GSA and Art Club, participates in her school’s theater program, plays percussion in the pep band and sings in the chamber choir. She also writes for her school’s literary magazine, Seascapes.

Looking to the future, Pomroy hopes to study medicine in college.
