Westhampton Beach Elementary School second grade students celebrated Baby Chick Day with the hatching of classroom chicks on May 23. Students were excited to find that their baby chicks had finally hatched after incubating for about 21 days. Prior to their hatching, students learned about the life cycle of chickens. Their lesson will culminate with a trip to the Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank, where they will bring the baby chicks to live. They will also take part in educational activities and a hayride.
