Two Westhampton Beach High school seniors have received prestigious musical designations. Hunter Montgomery is one of 55 students from across New York to be named an All-National musician by the National Association for Music Education, while Megan Sitzmann earned All-State designation from the New York State School Music Association.

The students, both vocalists, earned the honors based on their respective NYSSMA adjudications last spring.

As an All-National musician, Montgomery, a bass, will perform in the NAfME All-National Mixed Choir. Sitzmann will serve as an alternate alto in the All-State Mixed Chorus.

Both students also perform in their school’s chorus, chamber singers and band, for which Montgomery performs on percussion and bass and Sitzmann plays the trumpet.

“This has been a goal of mine since the fourth grade,” Montgomery said of his designation. “I am very proud of myself.”

Sitzmann said she is looking forward to the experience of performing on the state level and meeting new people.

The Westhampton Beach School District extends its congratulations to these talented musicians.
