Westhampton Beach Middle School students marked October as Bullying Prevention Month through a variety of activities.

Students signed a “No Place for Hate” school pledge and wore blue on Fridays to show that they are standing up against bullying. They also created a positive message popup table during lunch, where over 150 positive messages were written and shared across grade levels.

Additionally, physical education teacher Jeffrey Doroski inspired students to participate in an “Every Step Matters” initiative, through which students identified the best qualities about themselves and thought of ways to use those qualities to help others and stop bullying. They also created paper "footprints" with encouraging messages that are displayed in the hallway leading to the school’s gym and competed to take as many steps as possible to win blue water bottles.
