Winning projects for future scientists

Students at Westhampton Beach Elementary School displayed their knowledge of science at the school’s 27th annual Math, Science and Technology Fair.

The event showcased a variety of science projects by students in grades 1-5, with topics related to the speed of Hot Weels, beach erosion, solar panels and pointe shoe design.

This year’s fair winners were Dean Kalisak, kindergarten; Bryson Searless, first grade; Noelle Algieri, second grade; Kenley Montpetit, third grade; Ben Williams, fourth grade; and Max Searles, fifth grade. Runners-up were Melania Kirk and Jameson Liguori, kindergarten; Camilo Perez, first grade; Rylee Kalisak, second grade; Diana Meyers, third grade; Evelyn Matlock, fourth grade; and Noelle Kalisak, fifth grade.

The winning students are now eligible to compete in Brookhaven National Laboratory’s annual Elementary Science Fair Competition.
