Westhampton Beach High School junior Elizabeth Sultan has been named the recipient of the Suffolk County Female Athlete of the Year Award, presented in partnership with the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame and Team Up 4 Community.
Sultan earned the honor in recognition of her accomplishments as a student-athlete, as well as her leadership, character and commitment to serving others. As part of the award, she will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward her continuing education.
A standout athlete, Sultan is a member of the school’s varsity soccer team and competes on the varsity winter and spring track teams, specializing in hurdles and pole vault. Beyond athletics, she is actively involved in her school community as a member of the Key Club and the Business Advisory Board. She is also passionate about music, singing and playing the French horn.
Sultan was also recognized for founding Peter’s Packages, a service initiative created in memory of her father. Through the project, she curates care packages filled with items and resources designed to bring comfort and healing to children and families experiencing grief. Each package includes age-appropriate items such as puzzles, games, weighted blankets, crafts and other comforting items that promote emotional well-being.
To support the initiative, Sultan created an Amazon Wish List to collect donations and partnered with her varsity soccer team to raise funds through T-shirt and cookie sales.
Of earning the award, she said, “I am very honored. It is nice to see that hard work pays off while on and off the field.”
The Westhampton Beach School District congratulates Sultan on her hard work and dedication.
