Westhampton Beach names new athletic director

The Westhampton Beach School District Board of Education has appointed Patrick Kaplan as the district’s new director of health, physical education and athletics.
“We are excited to welcome Patrick Kaplan to our school community as our new athletic director,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carolyn Probst. “We are confident that he will build upon our strong athletic tradition while creating new opportunities for our student-athletes to grow both on and off the field.”
Kaplan joined Westhampton Beach after serving as the coordinator of athletics in the Copiague School District, where he oversaw athletic operations. Previously, he served as an administrator and substitute dean at Brentwood High School. He began his career as a health and physical education teacher in the Brentwood School District, where he also coached varsity cross-country and track and field.
Kaplan holds a Bachelor of Science in education from SUNY Cortland, a Master of Science from Stony Brook University and a certificate of advanced study from the College of Saint Rose.
“I look forward to supporting our teachers, coaches and student-athletes as we strive for excellence, ensuring our athletic programs remain a source of character-building, growth and unity for the entire Westhampton Beach community,” said Kaplan.
