Five Westhampton Beach High School students recently participated in the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island and North Fork’s annual Running and Winning Workshop, joining peers from across the East End to explore careers in public service and civic leadership.

During the daylong event, Tess Ashley, Addison Celi, Emily Edwards, Kara Flynn and Nico Grazina heard from local school board members about how they became involved in local politics. They also interviewed the panelists on topics such as seeking and holding office. The event continued with students working in groups to design a campaign and present on issues they would like to see addressed by local school boards.
