Westhampton Beach Elementary School students are celebrating their love of reading as part of their school’s annual Pick a Reading Partner program, whose theme this year is “March Madness for Reading: Tournament of Books.”

As part of the program, students are participating in a friendly literary competition modeled after a tournament bracket. Each week, students vote for their favorite books as titles compete to advance through brackets. Younger students are exploring picture books together during library classes, while older students are discovering chapter books with staff members from the Westhampton Free Library during lunch.

The reading celebration will continue in the coming weeks with special guest readers visiting classrooms to share their favorite stories.
