To mark Hispanic Heritage Month, Westhampton Beach Middle School students in Nicole Spatz’s and Lauren O'Hearn's ENL classes spent time with their teachers, classmates and school librarian Yvonne Perez to research South American countries.
The students learned about significant individuals, landmarks, flags, history and food. They also created maps, marked famous landmarks and used Google Earth to visit their places of choice.
The weeklong research project culminated with the students creating “virtual bitmoji rooms” where they provided links to articles, information and photos to share their new knowledge with others.
“It was a week to remember,” said Spatz. “Lots of learning and lots of fun.”
