Westhampton Beach High School has announced Brady Schultz and Maiya Boughal as its Class of 2026 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. The two seniors earned the top spots in their class through their outstanding commitment to academics.
Schultz and Boughal have achieved several academic accomplishments during their tenure at Westhampton Beach High School.
Schultz is a National Merit semifinalist, AP Scholar with Distinction and AP Capstone recipient. He serves as president of the National Honor Society and is a member of his school’s Math, Foreign Language and Science honor societies. He co-captains the boys varsity tennis team, for which he holds an All-Division title, and is manager of the girls varsity tennis team. He also performs in theater programs in and outside of his school and is an accomplished singer with All-State and All-County titles. In addition, he participates in his school’s science research program.
Outside of school, Schultz is a certified EMT and an accomplished sailor. He earned first place in the North American Sunfish Championships and took 56th out of 85 sailors in the world championship in Ecuador in December.
He plans to double major in biochemistry and Spanish in college.
Boughal was named an AP Scholar with Distinction by the College Board for her outstanding Advanced Placement exam scores and earned an AP Capstone seal on her diploma. She is also a member of her school’s National, Math, Foreign Language and Science honor societies. An accomplished lacrosse athlete, she has earned All-Division and All-Tournament titles during her four years of playing at the varsity level.
Outside of school, she is a certified ocean lifeguard.
She will be attending Dartmouth University in the fall to play lacrosse and study neuroscience on a pre-med track.
