Westhampton Beach Elementary School and high school students celebrated National Poem in My Pocket Day on April 27.

At the high school, students shared their favorite poems — both from renowned poets and those they had penned themselves — with peers, teachers, administrators and staff. Participating students were entered into a raffle for a chance to win a Barnes & Noble gift card.

At the elementary school, students shared their poetry during lunch, at recess, and all throughout the day. Students wore peel and stick pockets on their shirts and carried poems that they found or composed themselves.
