As part of a PTA-sponsored program, Westhampton Beach Elementary School students were back in their school’s greenhouse on Nov. 14 and 15.

During the session, students worked with farm educator Renato Stafford, owner of Homegrown, to create a compost pile that will break down into soil for use in the greenhouse’s garden beds. Students also learned how to harvest and store various seeds for the future and tried greens that were grown in the greenhouse.

“My goal is to teach students to become food advocates and have them try new things and change their eating habits at home,” said Stafford.
