Members of the Westhampton Beach High School Virtual Enterprise team had the opportunity to engage with fellow VE teams from 19 school districts across Long Island at a networking event on Dec. 21 at Atlantis Sea Star Ballroom.

During the eighth annual event, spearheaded by Westhampton Beach High School VE teacher Amy Demchak, students showcased their VE marketing materials and products and participated in simulated business transactions.

The Westhampton Beach team, EcoEats, displayed their virtual company that sells edible spoons, sporks and straws. The students developed the company to combat the enormous amount of waste caused by the disposal of plastic utensils.

The Westhampton Beach High School Virtual Enterprise program requires students to create a business concept and formulate plans to market it. They compete and present their plans at several events throughout the year.
