The Westhampton Beach School District Board of Education has appointed Jessica Weinberg as its new assistant principal for elementary curriculum at Westhampton Beach Elementary School, effective Oct. 27.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jessica Weinberg to our district,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carolyn Probst. “She brings a strong background as an ENL educator and has a passion for fostering inclusive, multilingual learning environments. She will be an incredible asset to our district.”

Weinberg, of Stony Brook, joins the Westhampton Beach School District from the South Country School District, where she served as the district’s dual language coordinator for grades K-7. In that role, she led and supported the district’s dual language programs and curriculum for over 1,000 multilingual learners. She started in the district as a lead ENL educator at Brookhaven Elementary School in 2007 and was also the school’s dual language and ENL instructional coach for grades K-3. She has also led numerous professional development initiatives related to ENL and dual language education.

Weinberg holds a Bachelor of Arts in multidisciplinary studies, a Master of Arts in teaching English to speakers of other languages and a post-master’s graduate certificate in educational leadership from Stony Brook University.

“I am overjoyed to join the Hurricane family as assistant principal for elementary curriculum,” said Weinberg. “I look forward to partnering with [Principal] Dr. Garritano in building on the goals of our school and district, nurturing strong relationships with staff and families, and providing meaningful leadership. Together, we will support academic excellence, inspire a love of learning, and help every student grow into a kind, curious and thoughtful global citizen.”
